We are a public institute with legal personality, functional autonomy, and its own assets, dedicated to conducting interdisciplinary research in the fields of geology, geophysics, geochemistry, geotechnical engineering, geomatics, and mining, environmental, metallurgical, chemical, electrical, and process engineering.
With more than 26 years of experience, the National Institute of Geology and Mining (INGEOMIN) has established itself as the leading agency responsible for scientific mining research in Venezuela. We evolve in step with global trends to offer a portfolio of services that transforms technical data into a strategic asset for investment and national development.
As an agency attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecological Mining Development and Basic Industries (MIDMEIB), our authority is backed by the Mining Law of 2026, which reaffirms our role as guarantors of the evaluation and responsible use of the country’s geological potential. Our work goes beyond exploration: we generate the information that ensures the legal and operational security of every project.
Comprehensive assessment of geological operations for open-pit and underground mines.
Design of underground excavations using the cut-and-fill, room-and-pillar, and sublevel methods; and open-pit excavations using the cut, strip, terrace, alluvial, quarry, and gravel pit methods.
INGEOMIN conducts topographic surveys using static points and state-of-the-art RPA technology to determine elevations, distances, angles, and terrain configuration—data required for the planning and development of construction, infrastructure, agriculture, and mining projects, as well as environmental studies.
INGEOMIN conducts integrated activities and studies using advanced technology to provide accurate data for mining operations.
INGEOMIN conducts indirect studies of rocks, which are essential for the exploration, evaluation, and management of natural resources, as well as for understanding the geological processes that lead to the accumulation of mineral resources and for risk prevention.
We provide solutions that involve the study and analysis of soil and rock conditions at a specific location to determine their ability to support buildings and infrastructure. These services include slope stability analysis, seismic risk assessment, and foundation design.
INGEOMIN conducts direct subsurface surveys using the diamond drilling method (vertical or directional) to determine the distribution, depth, and presence of mineral resources. By combining this data with geophysical data, they create a model that defines the volume and boundaries of the deposit, which is essential for designing the Mining Plan.
INGEOMIN is authorized and accredited by the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC) to conduct environmental and sociocultural impact studies, environmental audits, baseline assessments, and the design and implementation of mine closure plans, among other activities.
INGEOMIN has laboratories in Ciudad Bolívar and Los Teques to provide a service focused on research and the development of physical and chemical analysis methodologies, ensuring the highest quality of results, which are verified using Certified Reference Materials (CRM) and comply with international standards.
The National Geology Plan (PNG) is a project created to provide geoscientific information and the necessary documentation for the process of quantifying and certifying Venezuela’s mineral resources and reserves, thereby expanding the portfolio of investment opportunities in the mining sector.
