Caracas, August 18, 2026 (Prensa Ingeomin).- More than 100 children and adolescents affected by the seismic double in Caracas and La Guaira participated in the special operation of the flagship program “INGEOMIN goes to school”, a pedagogical initiative of the National Institute of Geology and Mining (INGEOMIN) that for two weeks brought practical learning on soil dynamics, geological risk and strategic minerals to various transitional camps in the country.
This training initiative added shelter spaces such as the Los Caracas Transitional Camp, in the state of La Guaira, as well as shelters in the capital. Between dynamics, games and recreational activities, the participants experienced the scientific world up close by interacting with rock samples, test tubes and practical experiments to understand the presence of geology in their daily lives.
María González, representative of INGEOMIN’s Laboratory Management, highlighted the impact of the activities: “We are showing children how science is directly related to everyday things. We want to bring them closer to geosciences so that they see the beautiful side of everything that is the world around us and become familiar with geoscientific work,” she said.
For its part, the multidisciplinary technical team emphasized the pedagogical value of the deployment in these temporary shelter spaces, orienting the dynamics to participants between 4 and 16 years old to transmit the reach of the scientific arm of the institution closely.
With the development of this special operation, the entity attached to the Ministry of People’s Power of Ecological Mining Development and Basic Industries, ratifies the validity of its training programs and is at its entire disposal to continue future days in schools, communities and transutorios camps. Beyond immediate attention to families, comprehensive risk management is consolidated as a permanent effort to build a culture of prevention in the country.
